Vegetarian

Posted by admin On January - 2 - 2010

In recent times, I have been very frightened by my sons purpose to become a vegetarian. I must say I did laugh quite a few times, because the son of mine, likes very few vegetables. He didn’t actually describe to me at the time why he had decided to become a vegetarian. And I watched amused to see how long that this would last.

He has been a vegetarian now for over 2 years and my laughter has turned to appreciation. My son, now has quite a varied diet, as he has gone out of his way to try new foods, and add new food (vegetables) into his list. I don’t think it will ever eat meat again. He seems very healthy and happy, and although I still eat meat, I support his decision.

Lately I heard about some books written by Michael Pollan, which are about the way our food is developed, and what we do to it along the way. I saw a TV program, which describe showed chickens, who can hardly stand because the weight of the breasts are so heavy. These chickens have been bred like this on purpose, because us humans like the breast meat the best. These poor chickens, were weighed down, by their unusual bodies, just so we can have more white meat. This program made me feel quite sick and I may decide to become a vegetarian myself before long.
